"The Sounds of Taraab" .....

Hamjambo!
Just wanted to let people know that our ensemble "The Sounds of Taraab" will be performing at
Barbes [Park Slope, Bklyn] this coming January.
Taraab is a genre of music from Zanzibar and coastal East Africa. The music is a spicy blend of African, Arabic and Indian styles, and the lyrics are sung in the beautiful language of Kiswahili. We play accordion, oud, violin, and percussion, and simply love this music, we are sure that you will, too. And we love the language [Ninaji funza Kiswahili] and certainly would like to get to studying it and speaking it with folks.
